NASHWAAKSIS STREAM PARK

This waterfront park winds from the parking lot beside the City view Dog Park, along the North Riverfront Trail, past a picnic shelter at the mouth of the stream, and behind the Johnston Avenue ballpark to its other entrance. A side trail ends at a platform overlooking an overgrown marsh.

Other access points are the parking area behind the Main Street Superstore, the end of Johnston Avenue, and by canoe or kayak from the river and the stream bank.

Features of this park include an active Osprey platform, interpretive panels and kiosks, benches, beach volleyball courts, and nest boxes.

Where the tributary enters the St. John River, Common Goldeneyes congregate in the water while Killdeers call from the shore. Great-crested Flycatchers nest alongside the 2.0-km trail.
